The second series of Metoda Markovič, this time subtitled Straka, charts another famous case solved by legendary detective Jiří Markovič. It is 1985 and the Communist Party is preparing the largest sporting event of its time – the Spartakiad. Prague is soon to be filled with young women and men from all over the country. But Prague is not safe, as an unpredictable serial killer is on the loose in the streets. The police begin a race against time under incredible pressure from state authorities. Hundreds of police officers embark on a search for the man the whole country fears... Compared to the primitive simpleton Hojer, whom the detectives had to find a suitable approach and way of communicating with to get him to talk, Straka Markovič was a much more complicated and mysterious "opponent." He deceived with both his boyishly innocent appearance and his behavior. He was above average in intelligence, popular with girls, yet at night he assaulted, raped, and murdered. Unlike in the Hojer case, where the perpetrator projected the image of absent parents, in Straka's case it is Jiří Markovič, who has a daughter of almost the same age at the time and who inevitably asks himself how he would have behaved if he had been Straka's parent... Jiří Straka, known as the Spartakiad killer, was caught on May 22. Between February 17 and May 16, 1985, he attacked a total of 11 women in Prague. He was convicted of three murders, two attempted murders, five rapes, three robberies, and five thefts. (Oneplay)
